If you signed up for The Product Thinker in the past 7 months, this is the first time you’re getting a newsletter from me. So, hello!
I’m here to catch you up on a few changes to my career and this blog:
In May, I was laid off from Unity. (With almost everyone I worked with in that company in the past 2 years.)
The layoff made me reassess my time in large companies. The corporate politics and “empire building” you see in large orgs are incompatible with good product work—more about this in another post. I want to put my energy into something else.
Shortly before the layoff, I mentored at Techstars and coached several founders in the art and craft of product management. This experience became the greatest professional highlight of 2023 so far, which got me thinking…
That I want to help founders succeed. It’s fun. It’s rewarding. It’s intellectually stimulating.
So, I’m doing a thing and focusing the content in this blog squarely on product management at startups. I’ll be writing for Seed and Series A CTOs and CEOs who want to get to PMF and aim to out-execute the competition and grow their product.
Oh, and one more thing. I used to keep posts in the draft stage for months and re-write them ad nauseam. This is stopping now. Posts go live when it’s time, not when they are “ready.” (They never really are.)
Till next time.
Ev.
